Top Ten Tuesday (185)

is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Tuesday's theme is...

The super fun thing about top ten topics like today's is that I'm afraid people will come at me with torches and pitch forks. (I'm kidding.) (Mostly.) It's always just a nice little friendly reminder that "Hey, Rachel, you still haven't read that book?!" I'm constantly behind on big and popular things (you guys, what in the actual fuck is the point of playing with a fidget spinner?), and that definitely includes major series. But I'm also very wary of hyped books, because being a mood reader and a constant black sheep is a bad combination. And series I still need to freaking read? Ha! There are many. To help narrow it down I've excluded series I've read a few pages to a few books from but never actually finished, like Harry Potter, the Mortal Instruments, and the Raven Boys, to name a few. But the following? I'll give them a try...eventually.

What's the number one series you still need to read?

  1. Great list! I really like the way you handwrote yours. :) LOTR made it onto my T10T, too. https://howlinglibraries.com/2017/06/20/t10t-062017/

  2. I don't get the "fidget spinner" thing either. ;)

Hope you enjoy Jenny's and Marie's books! Both are two series that should have made my list this week, but didn't. Next time I guess.

  3. O love your handwritten list! I've only read the first book in the Inheritance Cycle, To All the Girls and Legend. I read Lord of the Rings years ago and liked them, but have yet to actually sit through the movies without falling asleep.

  4. I hate fidget spinners! I see way too much of them in the school I work in. I hope you enjoy these series when you get around to them. I know mine will take me ages to get to!

  5. LOVE THIS! And I LOVE LOTR...Books are longer. But I guess that depends on your reading speed lol! (I am a horrid slow reader...but I read A LOT) My TTT http://www.bookwormmama.org/2017/06/top-ten-tuesday-series-i-keep-meaning.html :)

  8. If you liked Twilight, you'll love Lux bc it's basically Twilight with Aliens. I just read the first Percy Jackson a few months ago with my son, and I thought ti was okay. To All the Boys is FAB. Love your handwritten list-- so retro :)

  10. Your list is adorable! Love it. :) To All The Boys I've Loved Before is also on my list!!! Like, really super duper high up there on my TBR, I just recently bought the books so there's now no excuse... *looks over at nearly-toppling over TBR pile and overflowing bookshelves*

Also. If you ever get around to finishing Harry Potter you NEED to post something on here! What an accomplishment. I only finished it after high school, and I remember feeling so whole and complete and like hoorah, finally I'm in the cool club! (I'm also a bit of a black sheep, but this is one of those times where I wanted to be in the done-this-or-that club.)

  11. I have a lot of series I've been meaning to read for a very long time. I tend to avoid hyped books as well. At least until the hype has died down. Then I feel like I can enjoy the books at my own pace if I want to. I'd like to read the Percy Jackson series as well. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday

  12. Awesome list! To All the Boys I've Loved Before made it to mine as well. However, I need to add Legend, The Darkest Minds, and The Iron Fey to my constantly growing list. And, you need to read The Infernal Devices; I absolutely LOVED them (even more than The Mortal Instruments). I've been reading them in publication order, and I've been liking that, if that helps :)

  13. As for TMI vs. TID, I'm totally a TID fan. TMI was annoying to me and dragged out through the second three books. As far as reading order, it's been recommended by several people to read the books in publication order, which can be kind of frustrating because you're reading two stories at the same time. I'd recommend watching this video (I haven't watched it) but Emma is REALLY knowledgeable about the Shadowhunter world is this is how she recommends reading the books: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63ssKBYRj10&ab_channel=emmmabooks

I really really liked the darkest minds a lot but need to finish the series. also LUX I loved that series! The inheritance cycle.. meh. I've read the first but it was like 10 yrs ago? lol I just remember thinking it was just okay.

  16. My partner (38) recently decided he was no longer happy in a relationship with me. To exit the relationship he started dating this other person who is way older than him (15 years) and specifically told me he was doing it to ensure there is little chance of us working out whatever problems we had. All of this is happening before my very eyes as we are still working out the split of the family home and other details.I have been grieving for a month now because the relationship lasted nearly 11 years. I am trying to be supportive rather than disruptive however I feel she uses my attachment to our 4yo daughter. On several occasions he would leave her with me just so he can be with the new girlfriend and be happy . I understand he shouldn't wait for my grief or my permission to move on with a new partner but the fact he does it so soon and so openly is really hurtful to me. I am even considering moving to another city and cutting all ties to her and my daughter just to escape the pain. I recently found out how they were planning to raise our daughter and are making arrangements for this without even consulting me. I am completely lost but since I contacted Dr Peter my Lovers came back to me without any delay. contact Dr peter if you want your lover back in peace and joy contact him via email drpeterspellcaster21@gmail.com or WhatsApp +2348162247974 or Facebook page https://web.facebook.com/drpeterspellcaster22 blogspot: https://drpeterspellcaster22.blogspot.com/
