January + February Rewind

TWO MONTHS IN ONE. It's like an extra special, super duper cool deal! And it's also because computer issues and laziness have caused me to fall behind (hence why I posted practically nothing in February) and I never got my January recap up. But HEY. Better late than never, right?

Books Read

This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon
Miranda and Caliban by Jacqueline Carey
Cashmere by Temple West
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro
Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

Reviews

Mad Miss Mimic by Sarah Henstra: This would've benefited from a set focus.
Parasite by Mira Grant: SO GOOD.
Symbiont by Mira Grant: I am here for the tapeworm apocalypse (fictionally, at least).
Chimera by Mira Grant: Not my favorite of the trilogy, but still good.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber: Baa baa black sheep.
By Your Side by Kasie West: Talk about missed potential!
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones: I did not love this like at all but I wish I did.
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro: I liked it but there's a but.

Book of the Month

I wasn't super passionate about most of the books I read in January but I really really really liked this one and I'm mad I still haven't read/acquired the sequel.

Posts

I very sporadically participate in Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday these days, but this month brought my favorite hidden gems of the past year and my anticipation for a Peter Pan retelling.

One blog tour stopped by in January--Iain Reading's adventurous Kitty Hawk series!

January focused a bit on the bests of 2016, so I shared my End of Year Book Survey and some notables of the year.

Books Read

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes
This Is How It Happened by Paula Stokes
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab
A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab
A Conjuring of Light by V. E. Schwab

Reviews

The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro: Part of me likes these books and part of me just does not.
Miranda and Caliban by Jacqueline Carey: It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I had expected.
Velvet by Temple West: Such a fun book, and it has vampires!

Book of the Month

Really, really liked this and how I was immediately immersed into it, and I was also a fan of how mental illness was portrayed and found it very realistic and relatable.

WELL. This was a very rough blogging month. So all I have is the introduction to Get Up Offa That Slump: A Blogging Extravaganza, and posts from day one and day two, before computer issues forced me to cut it short.

Currently Reading

While I have wanted to read, nothing's really been tooting my horn--and I haven't finished anything in like two weeks. I'm currently slightly into Strange the Dreamer and Wildman, and while I'm liking both, again--nothing's quite tooting my horn. I need to find something I can just devour in one sitting--or devour Wildman--and just make myself read a book, damn it.

  1. I still need to read Girl Against The Universe and the ADSOM series! Got the first book from the library. This Adventure Ends was so great, I loved it.
