Reviews
Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven: I liked it, but I thought it was kind of okay?
The Doorway and the Deep by K. E. Ormsbee: An adventerous sequel, and also, FIFE.
Diplomatic Immunity by Brodi Ashton: A fun read, but it was a bit messy.
The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia: Really really really liked this one.
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo: Well, what a pleasant surprise.
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones: This was...a disappointment.

Book of the Month
Book Haul
Yes, I am somewhat dressed up for Halloween.
Posts
I talked about books I really like that were recommended to me and some fictional names I am fond of. Waiting on Wednesday brought a fantastic-sounding book featuring demons and hearts and a contemporary novel with skateboarding and a one-armed love interest.
The blog tour for Anna Banks's Nemesis stopped by, so I did a little makeup thing to show you how to get the Nemesis look. I helped celebrate the tenth anniversary (!!!) of the Morganville Vampires, aka one of my favorite series EVER, and the post and tour has all kinds of fun things.
I discussed the nonfictional mourning of fiction--why we feel and suffer when a character dies--and just a few bookish pet peeves.
A new "episode" of the Ninety Second Novel went up featuring S. Jae-Jones's much anticipated Labyrinth retelling Wintersong.
Last but not least, October meant the return of my Halloween feature Don't Look Behind the Bookshelf! This year I put together costumes/cosplays inspired by several fictional characters, and there's a giveaway you can still enter. The featured characters were Manon Blackbeak, Kaz Brekker, Karou, Peter Pan, and Astrid Dane!

Currently Reading
I still need to finish my reread of the Morganville Vampires (I'm only four books in), buuut I lent my cousin the books and she still has a bunch of them. I'd like to finally make a dent in The Secret History, and I plan on getting Mira Grant's Chimera and devouring it. I'm also getting ready to start Bad Blood by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, I need to (re)read Girl With a Pearl Earring for book club, and November seems like the perfect month to finally read The Scorpio Races...and I have a dozen unfinished books that need to be finished.
Currently Watching
I've chosen to spend my time reading instead of watching TV, but for "background noise" I like to watch Blue Bloods when it's on (thanks, nail salon, for putting me on that show).
