This isn't exactly a guest post since I'm the one posting it, but either way, I hope you're ready to get crafty. Today I'm going to show you how to make your very own Furthermore fox rock, which could actually be painted on, well, anything.
All you really need is some paint (preferably colors to match the cover), paint brushes, and some object to paint.
Aaand I just happen to have a little video showing the entire process. (Forgive the poor quality; I had to do this at night with shoddy lighting--which also, unfortunately, hides some of the work. And the angle is odd because I had to get creative with where I put my phone so I could record everything. Whoops!)
If I was smart I would've better planned out how I wanted the fox to look, because it did not turn out quite how I envisioned. At least it looks geometric...sort of? (And I don't know if you can tell in the video, but I totally repainted something I didn't like the color of, making for more work.) Either way, voila! (But what does the fox say?!)

The bestselling author of the Shatter Me series takes readers beyond the limits of their imagination in this captivating new middle grade adventure where color is currency, adventure is inevitable, and friendship is found in the most unexpected places.
There are only three things that matter to twelve-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn't miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappears from Ferenwood he takes nothing but a ruler with him. But it's been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she's about to embark on one to find the other.
But bringing Father home is no small matter. In order to find him she'll have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. Her only companion is a boy named Oliver whose own magical ability is based in lies and deceit--and with a liar by her side in a land where nothing is as it seems, it will take all of Alice's wits (and every limb she's got) to find Father and return home to Ferenwood in one piece. On her quest to find Father, Alice must first find herself--and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.

You--yes, you!--can win a few of Tahereh's favorite things picked out by the author herself. Different blogs will be offering different prize packs, and I'll be offering up Prize Pack #1, all courtesy of the wonderful and magnificent Penguin Random House:
· a copy of Furthermore
· a set of 3 Rifle Paper Co. Journals
The super duper fine print that's not so fine:

-Winner will have 48 hours to respond to my congratulatory email or else another winner will be chosen.
-I reiterate: no cheating.
I don't mean to sound so harsh and suck the fun out of everything, but it's a pain in my rear to have to go through so many potential winners because so many people cheat or have shady entries.

I would pick blue to see!
ReplyDeletered
ReplyDeleteMaybe something non-overwhelming, like grey.
ReplyDeleteBlue! It's my favorite color and it's so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I would want to only see one color. I'm thinking more along the lines of black and white (then I could at least imagine colors?) otherwise, I guess shades of purple, my fav color!
ReplyDeleteOnly one color. Hmm. That's a tough choice. I'd go with purple, I think. That way I get both blue and red! :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this book! I absolutely adooooored Tahereh's SHATTER ME series so I'm hoping to love this one as well!
ReplyDeleteWhite. I love it. It's majestic.
