Top Ten Tuesday (152)

is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Tuesday's theme is...

Well, Top Ten Tuesday! It's been awhile! Stupid school (Asher Roth lied about college) has kept me away, but this week I am determined to post my top ten something. And because of school (and all the homework I still need to have completed in less than six hours), this post will not be filled with fancy graphics. But ain't no college student got time for that on a Monday night, anyway. Back to the topic: Top Ten Tuesday! I'm actually not the best at keeping track of quotes (actually, I'm horrible. I don't want to leave sticky notes in my books because what if they get RUINED), but this year I have made note of a few, and I'll try to hunt down a few more. And since we're talking about it: how do you keep track of your favorite quotes? Maybe I should have a quote book. OOOH. Anyway, here are ten quotes--that aren't spoilery--from somewhat recent reads (aka books I've read in 2015) that I am quite fond of (and were actually able to remember and/or highlighted on my Kindle--sorry, hard copies).

"'I'm not going to die,' she said. 'Not till I've seen it.'
'Seen what?'
Her smile widened. 'Everything.'
- A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

"I don't see why it matters what is written. Not when it's about people. It can always be crossed out."
- Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

"Why be a sheep when you can be the wolf?"
- Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

"...an untamed girl with deadly ideas in her eyes."
- Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch

"Am I not merciful?"
- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
(Note: This and a million other quotes, honestly.)

"Sometimes you have to say yes to life, you know? Before it's too late."
- A Magic Dark and Bright by Jenny Adams Perinovic

"At once I was again the goddess and the damned."
- The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

"It was sort of surreal to think that the world stayed so busy when I was tucked away in sleep."
- How to Outfox Your Friends When You Don't Have a Clue

"'Don't look at me like that,' he said.
'Like what?'
'Like I'm the very devil himself.'"
- Blackhearts by Nicole Castroman

"'Why walk when you can fly?'
Oxley smiled. 'Because sometimes it's good to feel your feet on the ground.'"
- Wendy Darling: Stars by Colleen Oakes

And now, a section just for a few of my favorite quotes from Queen of Shadows. (Yes, it get its own section. Throne of Glass is bae, even if that book pissed me off and gave me all the feels.)

"She had once believed that she'd been born to be a queen. She had since learned that she'd been born to be a wolf."

"You are I nothing but wild beasts wearing human skins."

"Fire-breathing bitch-queen."
(This is everything and I want it tattooed on my forehead and put on my birth certificate.)

"'What do I do?'
She had to swallow before she said, 'You light up the darkness.'"

"But perhaps the monsters needed to look out for each other every now and then."

"Let's go rattle the stars."

What books are your favorite quotes from?

  4. LOVE that quote from A Magic Dark and Bright! And, of course, all the QoS quotes. One day I'll actually read that series... Oh! And The Summer of Chasing Mermaids. I thought that one was particularly quotable. Great picks!
