Code Name Verity meets Inglourious Basterds in this fast-paced novel from the author of The Walled City.
The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule the world. To commemorate their Great Victory over Britain and Russia, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor's ball.
Yael, who escaped from a death camp, has one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler. A survivor of painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skinshift and must complete her mission by impersonating last year's only female victor, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more difficult when Felix, Adele twin's brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and watch Yael's every move. But as Yael begins to get closer to the other competitors, can she bring herself to be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and complete her mission?

Wow, now that sounds different! I want it! This is the first I've heard of it, too. Great pick!

I'm excited to read this one too! I loved The Walled City, and I think the author can pull off another cool and interesting idea like this one. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds amazing.

I haven't read The Walled City, so I don't know this author's style at all. But I hear good things, so I might be checking him out :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my WOW
I love books to do with history but have not read enough of them (I really need to read Code Name Verity too!):( And this book is in a whole alternate world which I'd love to explore because of all the What Ifs the author can try and play out! I just know I'm going to root for Yael who already sounds intelligent and strong:)
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds too amazing (powers + killing Hitler + old love)!
It reminds me of this episode of a tv show called Misfits (series 3, ep 4) in which one man tries to kill Hitler only to change the present by accidentally triggering a series of events that result in the Nazis victory and then the main characters have to fix everything:))
Great pick!

This book sounds really interesting! I like how it is historical, but adds a fantasy twist to it! I'll have to add it to my TBR list!
