Get in the Halloween Spirit
I'm still planning to do something Halloweenish on the blog that has to do with costumes, otherwise I would so be saying what characters I'd want to dress up as. But hey, BOOKS. We love books, right? I do! So let me tell you about ten books I own that are totally perfect for Halloween!
Howl at the moon
I actually haven't read a whole lot of werewolf books, but this is a favorite of all time. I mean, there are WEREWOLVES. They're my favorite paranormal creature after the magnificent vampires!
Suck blood
I totally put the Morganville Vampires on every list I possibly can. I love this series so much. LOVE IT.
Bust some Ghosts
If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Suze Simon! Who else?!
Eat Your Neighbors
If I remember correctly, this CHILDRENS book begins with a guy eating himself. So. You know.
My, What Eyes You Have
When I read this in elementary school it was creepy. When I saw the movie it was creepy. Creepy is perfect for Halloween.
A Bloody Boo
No explanation necessary.
Braaaiiins
You can't really have Halloween without some flesh eating zombies. I haven't read very many books with zombies at all (but I DO hardcore watch The Walking Dead), buuut. This book is VERY GOOD.
Find some corpses
Hellooooo, this series is about a girl who finds dead bodies!
Don't Let Them Get You
It's been quite some time since I read this series, but I remember the books being weird and creepy. Very weird and creepy. Which makes it perfect for Halloween.
WhoSe Body's Next?
This book is basically like all those horror movies people watch. A bunch of teens are hanging out at a big house and partying. And then they start dying.
Bonus!
You all borrowed these from the library when you were little, right? What books would you recommend to read for Halloween?
My fourth grade teacher played Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark on audio book around Halloween and I still run from my car to the front door at night because I'm always manage to remember them in the dark! I'm still scarred by her scary stories!
ReplyDeleteI want to read SO many of these books. I have Anna Dressed In Blood to read soon and I'm looking forward to it. Ten is also a great thriller! Good choices!
ReplyDeleteThis list has some that I haven't read on it, but I fully agree with the ones I have. That means I have a lot of books to add to reading list!

So sad I didn't get to ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD in time for Halloween! Oh well; I guess my November will just have to be spooky, too. ;) CORALINE is a classic for Halloween; love that book! And movie, too!
ReplyDeleteYAY! The Devouring! That's my favorite creepy book. This is an awesome list! I decided to list ten book characters I'd dress up as. Have a happy Halloween!

I'm so excited to see that the Morganville Vampires series is on here! Also, have you seen the movie version of Warm Bodies? If so, how does it stack up against the book?
