[Beauty and the Bookshelf: Here's Fire in the Woods author Jennifer M. Eaton telling us what she would do if she ended up in Area 51!]
Wahoo! Let me at some alien relics! Getting into Area 51 has always been a dream of mine. I love it when this (maybe fictitious) place is featured in movies and books.
Think about it… if this place does exist, what kind of cool stuff would be in there?
I would cut a beeline straight for the spaceship chamber. How cool would it be to see an actual space ship made on another planet? I imagine they would be very simple, based on speed and agility rather than comfort and style.
If there was a medical wing, I would probably stay away, because if they had aliens in giant glass tubes of formaldehyde, not only would it be totally gross, but also really sad.
However, if there were high-security living areas… I would be all over that. This would be where we’d find the living aliens. How cool would it be to talk to someone who came from another planet?
Of course, before they’d talk, I’d probably have to gain their trust by breaking them out and giving them some food that is not drugged with stuff to make them groggy, but after running through the desert and escaping the military, what great conversations we would have!
(Oh, no…. I think another book idea is springing into my head.)
Yeah, Area 51 – definitely a fun place to spend a day.

When a plane crashes in the woods near Jess’s home, the boy of her dreams falls out of the sky—literally.
But David’s not here to find a girlfriend. He’s from another planet, and if Jess can’t help him get back to his ship, he’ll be stuck on Earth with nothing to look forward to but the pointy end of a dissection scalpel. But her father runs their house like an army barracks. and with an alien on the loose, Major Dad isn’t too keen on the idea of Jess going anywhere.
Ever.
So how the heck is she supposed to help the sweetest, strangest, and cutest guy she’s ever met? Hiding him in her room probably isn’t the best idea. Especially since her Dad is in charge of the squadron searching for David.
That doesn’t mean she won’t do it.
It just means she can't get caught. Helping David get home while protecting her heart—that’s gonna be the hard part.
After all, she can't really fall for a guy whose not exactly from here. As they race through the woods with Major Dad and most of the U.S. military one breath behind them, Jess and David grow closer than either of them anticipated. But all is not what it seems. David has a genocide-sized secret, and one betrayal later, they are both in handcuffs as alien warships are positioning themselves around the globe. Time is ticking down to Armageddon, and Jess must think fast if she's to save the boy she cares about without sacrificing Earth—and everyone on it.

Thank you so much for hanging today. It's been a blast!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds so much like Starman and I was a big fan of this TV series back in the 80's. Looking forward to reading the book and always looking for similarity.
