This book has a cool setting, ZOOLOGY, and a freaking SILVER LION. (Also, I was a fan of this author's debut novel. So I'm excited!)

Deep in the Kalahari Desert, a Corpus lab protects a dangerous secret…
But what happens when that secret takes on a life of its own?
When an educational safari goes wrong, five teens find themselves stranded in the Kalahari Desert without a guide. It’s up to Sarah, the daughter of zoologists, to keep them alive and lead them to safety, calling on survival know-how from years of growing up in remote and exotic locales. Battling dehydration, starvation and the pangs of first love, she does her best to hold it together, even as their circumstances grow increasingly desperate.
But soon a terrifying encounter makes Sarah question everything she’s ever known about the natural world. A silver lion, as though made of mercury, makes a vicious, unprovoked attack on the group. After a narrow escape, they uncover the chilling truth behind the lion’s silver sheen: a highly contagious and deadly virus that threatens to ravage the entire area—and eliminate life as they know it.
In this breathtaking new novel by the acclaimed author of Origin and Vitro, Sarah and the others must not only outrun the virus, but its creators, who will stop at nothing to wipe every trace of it.
Does your pick this week have a cool setting?
I made a Far, Far Away TBR--aka, books I'm waiting on that aren't released until 2015 or 2016 (like this one!)--and to accompany it there's an international giveaway! One person will win a preorder of any book from the list. So, if you fancy books and want to win one...

Umm...this one is new to me, but it looks pretty good! I'll have to add it too my TBR reading pile!

I've had Origin on my shelf since it came out but have yet to read it even though I really really want to. This one sounds awesome! =)

I haven't seen this one before but it seems like a really interesting read. I love that it's set in the desert and that silver lion sounds like something I need to see. Great pick :)
ReplyDeleteI just saw this yesterday on some post about new cover releases but never read the synopsis (because I completely judged it by the cover and thought that it wouldn't interest me). I'm happy that you shared it here, because it actually does sound like something I WOULD like. So thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI thought this was Adult before I read the summary, haha. Sounds good though, kind of survivor-y, which I haven't read in a while, though it'll be a while until it's out, booo. :(
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the author's debut, but this sounds fantastic. Plus I love the cover - I didn't realise it had one already! I can't wait to read this. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read anything by this author before, but this sounds really good. I hope you enjoy reading it!

This one is going to be sweet! I love that all of Khoury's books are connected by the evil corporation. Makes them great as a series, but also as standalones!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Hiding Spot!!
I'm already drawn in, not only by the premise, but by the setting which sounds so different from everything else I've heard out there. Really cool choice! Thanks for sharing!!
