Go On June, Bring July Forth

Whoa whoa whoa--how is the year already HALFWAY OVER? Oh well, now I can get a sunburn just by stepping outside. But before that happens, let me tell you about June then give you a preview of July. *wink*

June

Books
I finished six books this month and just started another (and I think I only set one aside).

-How to Outrun a Crocodile When Your Shoes Are Untied by Jess Keating
-The Prince of Venice Beach by Blake Nelson
-The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
-Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
-Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
-On the Fence by Kasie West

Reviews
-Hostage Three by Nick Lake: An interesting tale with Somalian pirates.
-How to Outrun a Crocodile When Your Shoes Are Untied by Jess Keating: Adorkable!
-The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings: Eh, this was meh.
-The Prince of Venice Beach by Blake Nelson: Kinda gritty!
-World After by Susan Ee: NEED BOOK THREE.
-Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater: Such great writing here.

Best Book of the Month
June was full of more hits than misses, so yay! Also, this book. Yeah, I'll need to be rereading it before I can review it.

Book Haul
I actually had about five million videos that were better and more fun than this one but they all recorded with audio delay and then this one (after hours) didn't, so.

Weekly Posts
Summer is here (though not necessarily the matching weather), so I recommended some books for your beach bag! I also shared my favorite books of the year so far, and what books are in my summer TBR pile. Then I discussed what cover trends I like!

This month I waited on a romantic thriller and the latest from an author who knows no boundaries. And of course I anticipated a PRETTY COVER. Then I impatiently tapped my foot for a book that sounds kinda scary!

Other Posts
This month I introduced a new feature on the blog: Be Our Tattooed Guest! Really, this feature is quite simple: it's all about literary, bookish, and poetic tattoos! So far there's been tattoos of books, Lord of the Rings, Shakespeare, and the Divergent series!

Three blog tours stopped by, starting with a guest post about inspiration from Lisa Ann O'Kane, author of Essence. Then I had a very interesting, er, interview of sorts with Paranoia author J.R. Johansson. Lastly, I had Boneseeker author Brynn Chapman on the blog for an interview about her book--which has the daughter of Holmes and the son of Watson!

I introduced ReReadathon + Shelf Sweeper, a July readathon I'm co-hosting with Shae Has Left the Room!

Events
I didn't make it to ANY signings or fun bookish things this month, which is a total bummer. BUT. I did make it to Who Picked This Book? Club for the first time in a couple months, and we discussed Dorothy Must Die!

July

Books
I NEED to catch up on my Goodreads list this month because I am SO BEHIND. Also, I have book club on the 11th and still haven't started The Shining, so... Oh, and I'll be reading lots of books (hopefully) for a readathon!

New Releases
Here are the three July releases I'm most excited about and that I don't already have ARCs of!

(July 8, 2014)
CAPTAIN HOOK!

(July 8, 2014)
Obviously I'm excited about this.

(July 29, 2014)
New Lisa Schroeder!

Events
ReReadathon and Shelf Sweeper is happening, and you can find all the info and sign up here!

Okay, I'm off to get LOTS AND LOTS of reading done. Enjoy the fireworks, folks! (Or maybe just use them as outdoor book lights?)
