This Tuesday's theme is...
Top Ten Books To Read If You Like
I started watching The Walking Dead when season four began (me, who is terrified zombies!) and am now obsessed. (I have may bought seasons one and three--working on two--when season four ended, because WITHDRAWALS.) If you're not watching this show, I highly suggest you change that. But in the meantime, here are ten books you should read, for reasons, if you like--or even if you don't like/don't watch--The Walking Dead. (Note: These books are best when read with a snack of braaains.)
zooombies
I've read, like, almost no books with zombies, but I did read Warm Bodies. And I LOVED it. Not really dark and gory, but simply fantastic. And since The Walking Dead obviously has zombies...Well, you get the picture.
waking up in a strange, strange world
Have you ever woken up and found yourself in a world different from what you fell asleep in? (I hope not.) Spoiler Alert: Something kind of like that happens in TWD. So if you're into that sort of thing, then check this out. The world in Strangelets may not have zombies, but it sure is strange...
this is all really effed up
The world in The Walking Dead is obviously messed up. And people, they are doing CRAZY THINGS. Ladies and gentlemen (and Walkers), welcome to the FAYZ.
trust no one
Wouldn't you think that all humans would band together if there was an apocalypse and it took out most of the human population? EHH, WRONG ANSWER. Humans will kill each other, and in both The 5th Wave and TWD, you have to be careful of who you trust.
cults of the apocalypse
You've prooobably heard of the Governor, right? In Escape from Eden there's a cult, and some people want to leave it. While Woodbury in TWD isn't exactly a cult, it's definitely something--or someone--you want to escape from and never see again.
here a dead body, there a dead body
In the Body Finder series, Violet can hear/see/smell/sense the echoes of the dead and, if those dead were murdered, she can find out who killed them. And there are plenty of dead bodies in TWD. But the poor girl would probably have her senses overwhelmed!
you loot to survive
The people of Scarlet and The Walking Dead live somewhat similarly: constantly looting for supplies and living off the land.
hello, sheriff
I'm reading this right now for book club and it's actually pretty darn good. The POV is a cop/police officer/sheriff person, and since the main character of The Walking Dead is Rick the sheriff...Ta da!
a sword-wielding badass
Michonne and Celaena are, like, the same person.
the one, the only: daryl dixon
It occurred to me one day that there were similarities between TWD's Daryl Dixon and Shane Collins from the Morganville Vampires. They're both badass and somewhat trouble--and totally swoony. And while Daryl protects against Walkers, Shane does the same against vampires.
Do you watch The Walking Dead? If so, tell me: ARE YOU GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWALS TOO?
Oh I have Warm Bodies... I need to read it soon!! Have you read This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers? It's a zombie book. Oh yeah and I just bought Gone a few weeks ago and it's one that sort of out of my comfort zone, but I'm going to do it. Great list :)

I really want to read Warm Bodies. I don't recall reading a book about zombies, so I'm intrigued to see if I'd like it. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI want to marry Daryl. That is all. Well I also love this list. Now that is all.

Yessss to Throne of Glass! I like zombies and kick-butt fighting so I really should try watching The Walking Dead. :) And OH GOSH! Gone is one of my favourite series ever. :)) My TTT!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great way to do this list. I am not a zombie fan, but love so many of the other aspects like "a sword-wielding badass".
ReplyDeleteSo many of these books are in my TBR pile! I've heard excellent things about Gone and Throne of Glass. I actually own a copy of In the Woods and haven't read it yet. Great list!

Great topic! SO many of these are on my TBR! I actually read one book about zombies, Something Strange and Deadly, and it was really good! You should check it out!
ReplyDeleteHere's My TTT
This is great. Michonne and Celaena are strikingly similar. I must recommend Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry if your list is any indication of your love for The Walking Dead. I need to check out these other books I haven't read.
