Top Ten Tuesday (77)

This Tuesday's theme is...

Top Ten Things On
My Bookish Bucket List

Ah, this week's topic was kind of hard. I don't really have a bookish bucket list! But never fear, I came up with ten things that I want to do before my author kills me off.

read someone in every
letter of the alphabet
I do not think I've done this, but I'd like to have read books from authors with last names beginning with each letter of the alphabet. For example, I don't think I've read anyone whose last name starts with X. But I want to (*glances at empty spaces on Review archive*)!

finish all those series I started
There are a few too many series I have yet to finish and that have all their books out--Firelight, The Flappers, The Immortals, etc.--and I'd love to finish them all at some point. (And start on those sequels I haven't gotten to yet. Sorry, The Dream Thieves.)

meet all the authors
I LOVE meeting authors in person. I don't tend to preorder signed books and all that jazz because I like to get them signed myself. So I need lots of authors to come here so I can make that happen and embarrassingly fangirl, like Rachel Caine, Rainbow Rowell, Suzanne Collins, Michael Grant, Jodi Lynn Anderson...

write my own book(s)
My dream is to be a published author. And I have these IDEAS (one of which is very prominent) living and growing in my head. I just need to write them down and go from there.

read more variety
I think I tend to lean toward fluffy contemporaries, dystopians, and paranormal novels, but I want to venture out more. I have read some fantasy, sci-fi, deeper contemporaries, and historical fiction lately, which has been great. And there are many more I still want to read!

own books in certain editions
There are some series I own all in paperback, or some I own in paperback and hardcover, and I want them all in hardcover. (Hardcovers just look so pretty on my shelves.) Also, I have this new thing where I want to own some books in various editions. For example: I want Michael Grant's Gone series with the original covers in hardcover, but I also want all the new paperback covers. I want the UK version of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. And I want some movie covers! Like The Fault in Our Stars. (I may currently own three versions of Divergent, and when the Collector's Edition is out, that will go up to four.) I know, it's crazy!

certify my internet
friends aren't creepers
My brother and sister occasionally like to make the argument that "RACHEL talks to strangers on the internet." I like to argue that I KNOW the people, but still. I talk to several of you constantly, and it'd be so cool to actually MEET you!

have a literary-named child(ren)
I had pigs named Atticus and Finnick Haymitch. I have a hedgehog named Odair and a cat named O'hara. (We didn't name our Golden Retriever, but her name's Bella, so...) I like literary names, and mooost likely any living thing I ever own will have a name that's bookish in some way, shape, or form. (Unless I have twins, because they'll be Marco and Polo. Just kidding. Maybe.)

get that library

try to read all the books
This is pretty much impossible, even if I was immortal, but I shall try my darnedest to read as many books as I possibly can.

  1. I'd like to write my own book, too. It's hard for me, even though I've been writing stories my entire life.

  2. I love the idea of your author alphabet challenge. I'm not sure I know of any surnames starting with X either.... but very cool.

I like the literary named children idea. If I had a dog I'd name it Westley or Dread Pirate Roberts (I'm in love with The Princess Bride by William Goldman). Odair is a great name for a hedgehog!

Also - I would love to meet more authors too...

  3. I really like the idea of the Alphabet challenge. It could be tricky, but also a lot of fun. I hope you achieve your goals! :-)

  4. OH gosh, the alphabet thing sounds awesome! Now I want to do it too! :D Yes to finishing series I started. I have way too much I don't even know when that'll happen. I want to meet more authors, read more genres and own a library too! Great list :)

I want to meet my favorite authors too! I've only went to two book signings, so don't worry. ;) I agree that booktubing seems like a lot of fun, but I'm too shy to do it! :))

  5. Oh this is such a brilliant list! LOVE IT. YES to the first one...I never thought of that, but I'd love to do that too. I think Orson Scott Card has a book starting with X...mm. I should read it. Just so I can say I've read an X book. ;) I love writing, I'd love to be published...that's kind of on my list. :) My TTT!

  6. I never thought of the alphabet thing! I've ordered all my reviews by author surname and apparently I'm missing I, Q and U, but not X or Z. If you want to get more authors on your Z list, I recommend Gabrielle Zevin. Her books are seriously good.

  7. I was JUST looking at my review archive and lamenting the empty letters! Mine's for books beginning with "(whatever)" though, so I'm more looking for titles that start with crazy letters... I'm not sure which is harder to fill, titles or authors' last names! =S

  8. Love the author alphabet and naming ideas, they sound really cool! I've never met an author before, but hope it will soon.

  9. Love the Beauty and the Beast library - but I want the one described in Robin McKinley's Beauty, with all the books that ever were or ever will be written. Of course, I'd also need to be immortal to read them all!

  10. When I first met Rebecca at Love At First Book in real life, we were both concerned the other was a total creeper. Turns out, not ALL strangers on the internet are bad! I love how this is a Top Ten Tuesday! You may want to link up to the original Bookish Bucket List at http://www.thebookwheelblog.com/50-bookishthings/, too!
