Giveaway: Saying Goodbye to a Series

As you may or may not know, I am a huge fan of Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series. I believe I started the series toward the end of my freshman year of high school, and at the time just a few of the books were out. But once I started reading them, I couldn't stop. I read each and every book (and have done multiple rereads and scannings of favorite parts), and while I may have fallen behind a couple times, I read most of them around the time they came out. This series has become one of my absolute favorites, and with November 5 (remember, remember the fifth of November) fast approaching, the series is coming to an end.

There's just something about this series that I love. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But my love for the books typically looks past the imperfections. I just love the characters and the story and everything put together. You know, this may sound weird, but one day I was out and about and I could picture the Glass House gang just standing there on the street, hanging out. They seemed so real. And for me, I guess these characters are real. Somewhere in Texas there's little town called Morganville, and vampires and humans coexist (well...sort of) there. You've got the regal yet terrifying Amelie and dictating hippie Oliver, and let's not forget the mad scientist-esque Myrnin. And then you've got the Glass House gang: musician Michael, gothic Eve, troubled yet swoony Shane, and the smart and tough Claire. For fourteen books, I've followed these characters and been a part of their lives. But now it's time to say goodbye.

On November 5, 2013, the Morganville Vampires series comes to a close (or does it?) with its fifteenth and final book, Daylighters. I'd tell you about it, but if you haven't read the other books, I don't want to spoil anything for you. But, in celebration of the series, Penguin is offering up a Morganville book for a giveaway! You, ladies and gentlemen, have a chance to get started on the Morganville Vampires series by winning your own copy of Volume 1 of the series, featuring Glass Houses and Dead Girls' Dance!

In Rachel Caine's town of Morganville, "there's always a surprise just around every dark corner" - and it usually involves the undead. Now these secrets come to light in the first two books of the Morganville Vampires series, together in one volume.

GLASS HOUSES

Morganville is a small college town in the heart of Texas that has its share of quirky characters - and some evil ones too. When student Claire Danvers moves off campus into one of Morganville's oldest houses, she finds that her roommates don't show many signs of life. But they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood.

THE DEAD GIRLS' DANCE

Claire Danvers has her share of challenges - like living among creatures of the night. On the upside, she has a great roommate (who tends to disappear at sunup) and a new boyfriend. Now a fraternity is throwing its annual Dead Girls' Dance and - surprise! - Claire and her equally outcast friend have been invited. When they find out why, all hell breaks loose, because this time both the living and the dead are ready to tear up the night.

Be sure to enter the giveaway below and get started on this fun and fantastic series! And when you read the books, talk to me--I want to know what you think!

  1. Haha, love the reference to V for Vendetta( which is absolutely my favorite movie with Natalie Portman). I still haven't continued reading-stuck in the middle of book 6-but I'm hoping too ;)

  2. I am completely terrified of the endings of the Shatter Me trilogy and the Mara Dyer trilogy coming next year.

  3. There isn't really a series that I'm terrified of ending.

  5. I was terrified for the end of the Gallagher Girls and now I'm terrified for the end of Divergent and of course, the Morganville Vampires. I will certainly miss not having a least one new book waiting for me to read every year. And the chapter sampler did nothing but make me want to read Daylighters even more. Poor Eve.

  6. I'm so scared for Allegiant and the third book in the Splintered trilogy. I'm also terrified for the last book in the Legend trilogy!
