Top Ten Tuesday (21)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Tuesday's theme is...

Top Ten Favorite Characters in X Genre

When I saw today's topic, I thought to myself, "Hmm. What genre could I pull ten characters out of?" I conjured up several ideas, then came up with something that I thought was a little different and that I could make work. But that didn't work and I changed my topic around and around. So. Here are my Top Ten Favorite Characters in Contemporary YA. Or ten that I really like, in no particular order. (I'm really bad at picking favorites. These I just pulled off my bookshelf.)

Creed from Don't Breathe A Word by Holly Cupula
He's not your average character. He's homeless, living on the streets in Seattle, and when he sees someone needs help, he offers it. That's just what he does in this book, and he's so protective and just awesome and he rocks.

Miranda Mathison from Tell Me A Secret by Holly Cupula
All the problems this girl has--her mom's kinda loony, her dad is her mom's puppet, she can't end up like her deceased bad-girl sister, and she's pregnant. But following her journey is fantastic.

Auden West from Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
I think we both have something in common--we need to live a little. Oh, and we both have a thing for Eli Stock.

Eli Stock from Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
He's probably my favorite of the Dessen boys, and I love him. He's cool and awesome and just ahh.

Dexter Jones from This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
"Hate Spinnerbait." Dexter is nerdy, in a band, and won't take no for an answer--but in a good way. He's not your everyday heartthrob, and I love that about him.

Alex, Carlos, and Luis Fuentes from the Perfect Chemistry series by Simone Elkeles
Muy caliente. If you've read this series, you know why these brothers are some of my favorites. Just--LOVE. Bad boys? Check. Do we love them? Check.

Etienne St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
No explanation necessary except siiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhh.

Josh from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Dude's funny (re: Girl Scout cookie scene) and he's loverboy in Isla and the Happily Ever After. I might as well just add him now.

Cricket Bell from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
An inventor who wears skinny jeans and has tall, spiky hair? YES. Plus, he's super nice and caring and awesome.

Otto from Endangered by Eliot Schrefer
Unlike the other characters on this list, Otto isn't a human--he's an ape, Bonobo style. And he's AWESOME.

I almost forgot one that I just have to add, so here's lucky number eleven!

Ty MacFarlane from Stolen: A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher
Okay, so he may have kidnapped a girl he was in love with, but he's just so...I don't even know how to describe it. He's an amazing, interesting character that I fell for even though I shouldn't.

Who are some of your favorite characters? Tell me!
