Top Ten Tuesday (9)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Tuesday's theme is...

Top Ten Authors in a Genre

I'm horrible at discerning genres. Seriously. It's ridiculous. I'm so bad at it that I don't even bother mentioning it unless I know for sure what is. So I've made my own genre today, and I hope you enjoy it: Top Ten YA Authors on My Bookshelf. (And I messed up the topic, so these are some of my faves that I haven't met and would like to meet. Oops!)

1. Rachel Caine
Surprise, surprise. (Not.) She's on every list I can put her on. Why? Because I love her books and have always wanted to meet her. I have at least twenty of her books, by the way. I will bring them all to be signed when I meet her, hopefully in the near future. (No shame.)

2. Sarah Dessen
I own all of her books and have read all but What Happened to Goodbye, and they're fantastic, wonderful, phenomenal. Meeting her would be somewhat like meeting the president. (If I cared about politicians. That's just a metaphor/simile thingy.) In other words: awesome.

3. Suzanne Collins
No explanation necessary. (And I'm still upset with my parents for not taking me to meet her when she was here a couple years ago.)

4. Lucy Christopher
Stolen was different and sad and happy and just plain brilliant. To meet the person behind those words would be amazing.

5. Claudia Gray
I enjoy her books that I've read so far, and she's extremely entertaining on Twitter and Tumblr. (I'm developing major crushes on James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender because of the latter.)

6. Becca Fitzpatrick
I love her books and I would love to meet her, plain and simple. (I may meet her in a couple weeks if I choose to drive three hours there on a school night and three hours back.)

7. Melissa de la Cruz
For the most part, I've been following her Blue Bloods books, and with it coming to an end soon (and with me owning all the books), it'd be great to meet her.

8. Anna Godbersen
I'd like to meet her for three reasons. 1. Because her books are amazing. 2. Ask her why she has practically no social networking so I can stalk her. (I'm weird like that.) 3. Ask her WHY WHY WHY she ended The Luxe series like she did. WHY WHY WHY?

9. Jillian Larkin
I love her books so much (flappers are amazing!), and I'd love to meet her! Also, I want to know why she isn't on Twitter, where it's okay to stalk people.

10. J.K. Rowling
I've only read the first four Harry Potter books, but hey. She's a legend. Meeting her would be epic.

What's your Top Ten and genre? Tell me in the comments!

  1. You just have to finish the Harry Potter trilogy- it's incredibly epic and the 5th book is, in my opinion, the saddest. (If you haven't seen the films and if a terribly sad book makes you want to read it more!)

Suzanne Collins = just plain awesome. I can't get enough of THG series, it's so beautifully written!

    Aweosme top ten!

  5. Great list! I would never have been able to narrow it down to just 10 YA authors across all genres. I would have pulled my hair out, and maybe cried every time I had to cut someone I love!

Check out my Top Ten Favorite YA Contemporary Authors HERE!

Also, I have a FANTASTIC giveaway of a SIGNED copy Lauren Oliver's new book, THE SPINDLERS, going on HERE!

  6. Such a fun 'genre'! I always have a hard time with fantasy, since it has so many subgenres!

You can't make a list without J.K Rowling on it. I think it's so cool that you could narrow it down to 10 authors.

    TTT fairytale authors @thedailyprophecy
