Welcome to my stop on the Scavenger Hunt for the Name the Book Extravaganza! In case you're wondering what this is, let me tell you: we're helping Ali Cross name the third and final book in her Desolation series, and we're doing it with a bunch of fun stuff! Today I have for you a mock-up cover, three titles you can vote on, a giveaway, and a guest post! This hosted by Tiffany at Escaping...One Book at a Time and Ali Cross, and for more details check out Tiffany's blog. Also, there's a certain word in the excerpt that may stand out more than others...be sure to remember that. Enjoy!
The Books
Become (Book 1)

When Desi is forced to embrace her inner demon, she assumes her choice has been made—that she has no hope of being anything other than what her father, Lucifer, has created her to be. What she doesn’t count on, is finding a reason to change—something she’s never had before—a friend.
Desolate (Book 2)
Where darkness lives, all becomes desolate . . .

Desi goes through the motions of life: school, training, remaining vigilant against the forces of darkness, but her dreams are full of the choices she wishes she could change. When she’s injured by a strange demon, old temptations arise, and the lines between good and evil blur. Desi discovers those choices aren’t so final after all.
And this time, the power of love—for a friend, for a lover—may not be enough to save her from the darkness that lurks within.
The Author
Ali Cross is the sensei of the Writer's Dojo where she holds a black belt in awesome. She lives in Utah with her kickin' husband, two sparring sons, one ninja cat, two sumo dogs and four zen turtles.
The Naming
All you have to do is look at the mock-up cover (as in, not the actual cover) and vote for which name you like most for the third book in the series: Divine, Chosen, or Destined. All you have to do is click which one you like, and your vote is in and entered to win prizes! (Please only vote for one; however, you can vote once each day that the giveaway is happening.)
The Hunt
The following is a guest post by Ali Cross, and it's about Michael before everything happened. (P.S. Look for something that stands out for the Scavenger Hunt!)
I knew the minute she came to Earth, because that was the moment I felt her again—like a ribbon of spun sugar stretched between us. I went to Earth, under the guise of advising the area’s watchtower of The Hallowed. From a distance I watched her. Enrolled in her school, tried to get close.
But she wasn’t ready. I knew she wasn’t ready, with Hell wrapped around her heart, completely concealing her Memories of who she was before.
And then, too soon, she was gone.I couldn’t bear the thought of going back to Asgard without her. Of waiting and watching again. I regretted every moment I’d passed her in the hall, her head bent, her music blaring so loud through her earbuds that I knew she was somewhere else. One time I went into the gym during my free period to shoot hoops, and spotted her under the bleachers with that boy—the boy who clothed himself in black but who radiated such sweet light—and I stopped. Waited. She smiled for him. And, oh, my heart broke. Not because I thought she’d chosen him over me—I knew she only felt tenderness for him, nothing more. No, my heart broke for her, my beloved, who had fallen so far that until that moment—that very moment I watched them—she hadn’t had any reason to smile. If I ever had the chance I would thank that boy. Because he was Desi’s savior. Now . . . I’m staying here. I’ll work with The Hallowed. I’ll help them get ready for the dark days ahead. And I’ll keep watch for her—because I know she’ll come back. She has to.

ReplyDeleteOMG!! The excerpt "The Hunt" was soooo....I don't know how to explain it! It touched me and I had to reread it a few times because it was sooo good and sweet and romantic. I guess because knowing that the character saying that was a guy, it touched me even more. I want someone to think of me like that and to say that to me!! Thank you for putting "The Hunt" on here for us to read. I loved it!! And I really cannot wait to read the whole series!!!
